Robinhood Markets Inc. (HOOD) shares climbed 4.0% in extended Wednesday trade to $48.20, building on a 38% year-to-date gain, as Bitcoin reclaimed the $80,000 handle and Cboe Holdings monthly options-volume data showed industry-wide contracts traded reaching a record 132 million in April — both metrics that flow directly through Robinhood's transaction-revenue line. Robinhood reports first-quarter 2026 results next Tuesday, May 5, after the close.
Crypto-related transaction revenue accounted for 26% of Robinhood's Q4 2025 total transaction revenue. The current consensus for Q1 2026 calls for $0.46 in adjusted earnings per share on $852 million of revenue. Citi analyst Christopher Allen raised his Q1 estimates to $0.51 EPS on $880 million of revenue, citing "a much stronger crypto trading activity tape than originally modeled, particularly in the second half of March and continuing into April."
Strategic Pivot Pays Off
Robinhood's strategic pivot — beyond commission-free equities into a fully-integrated multi-product platform — has yielded outsized results. The Robinhood Gold subscriber base reached 4.6 million in March, up from 3.1 million a year earlier. The Robinhood Wallet self-custody crypto product crossed 8.4 million users. Robinhood Strategies — the active equity portfolio service launched in November 2025 — has gathered $2.4 billion in assets in just five months.
The U.K. expansion, in operation for 14 months, has enrolled 880,000 customers and approximately $4.6 billion in assets — strong enough that the company indicated last quarter it expects U.K. operations to reach breakeven by Q3 2026. The pending acquisition of Bitstamp — the European cryptocurrency exchange — is expected to close in May, immediately adding regulated crypto venue access in 50+ jurisdictions globally.
