Despite Bitcoin's volatile rejection from $80,600 to $79,000 amid the Iran-UAE escalation, U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds posted a robust $532.21 million in net inflows on Monday — the third straight day of positive accumulation and a clear signal that institutional buyers are using geopolitical dips as entry points rather than exit catalysts. The flows extend a powerful trend that saw April close as the strongest ETF inflow month of 2026 with $2.44 billion.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) dominated Monday's flows with $284.4 million of net subscriptions, maintaining its position as the primary institutional access vehicle with approximately 57% market share of total spot Bitcoin ETF AUM. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) added $213.4 million, while ARK Invest's ARKB contributed $88.5 million. Grayscale's GBTC saw modest net outflows of $42 million as the legacy product's higher fee structure continues to drive gradual rotation.
Cumulative AUM Milestone
Total U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF assets under management approached $168 billion at Monday's close — equivalent to approximately 1.08 million BTC held across the eleven funds. IBIT alone holds approximately $96 billion, making it one of the 20 largest ETFs globally by AUM and surpassing BlackRock's flagship iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) in 2026 net inflows. The ETF complex now holds approximately 5.4% of Bitcoin's total circulating supply.
Institutional vs. Retail Behavior
The divergence between ETF flows (positive) and spot-market leveraged liquidations ($342 million in longs liquidated) highlights the widening gap between institutional and retail positioning strategies. ETF buyers — predominantly wealth advisors, pension allocators, and corporate treasuries — operate on longer time horizons and use volatility to add positions at lower cost bases. Retail leveraged traders, conversely, were flushed out by the intraday reversal.
